Flower Bed Irrigation
Flowers that are seasonal or annual respond best to microspray for irrigation. They usually have a small rooting depth and are susceptible to wilting when the roots dry out. If the flowers are changed every 3 or 4 months, it is hard to maintain individual drip emitters to each plant. A microspray system will sprinkler the entire area, at a low precipitation rate, eliminating run off.
Downward conesprays irrigate small areas, 12" - 18" radius and avoid over spray to other areas.
Center stip sprays are nice for narrow flower beds up against a house or fence.
Wing Jets, above, come in fixed flows and patterns and put out a light spray 4' to 8' out. Vari-jets, below, are good for large areas, 8' - 10', and a tiny ball valve regulates the flow. The water droplets are larger than the wing jets. Good choice for penetrating dense plantings like tall ground cover, bulbs or ferns. The spray is high enough to get over leaves and stems but light enough not to flood the area.
Some ground cover responds very well to the 1/4" emitter drip tube. Drip emitters and emitter tube reduce the propogation of weeds in the flower beds. You can ring the emitter tubing, far left, to water raised bed or flower pots.
Misting sprays are good bringing up seeds or watering for lighter watering if the station needs to run small emitters for long periods of time
Spectrum or fan sprays can be turned down to water smaller area. The fan spray on a stake can be moved around in the flower bed to accomodate growing plants.
1 gph emitter provides additional water on the same line as the emitter tubing. Shrubs and flowers may need addtional emitters if they get more sun than others on the line.
Rain Bird XPCN micro spray can be put on drip lines to water various flowers and ground covers.
