Pots
Because there are so many varibles to potted plants (soil, plant, annual,
perennial, sun, shade), it is difficult to recommend one irrigation solution. Here
are a few and we will add more as we get pictures and suggestions.
The size of
the pot,
plant and
amount of
sun will
typically
determine
the size and
number of
emitters
needed to
keep the
soil moist.
Most pressure compensating emitters are made in
1/2, 1 and 2 gallon per hour and will discharge their
respective amounts of flow between 10 and 30 psi.
Larger pots with one plant usually need two or
more emitters to keep the root zone moist.
This pot is using the higher flow 4 gallon per
hour emitters.
Flag or Take-apart-emitters are made
in 1, 2, & 4 gallon per hour designs.
They are not pressure compensating
but they are less susceptible to
clogging and can be taken apart and
cleaned.
Cone Jets also work well in
pots dispersing the water
well so that all the flowers
get a drink.
Max-Cone Fan has a
downward spray. The
diameter of the spray is 12" -
18" depending on the the
height of the nozzle above
the ground. We stock three
sizes: Black 5.6, Blue 10.5
and Green 16 gallons per
hour.
A ring or line of emitters can
also be built using in-line
drip emitters that are
available in 1/2, 1 & 2 gph
rates. This allows you to
mix and match the emitters
flow with different parts of
the planter.
Another option
is using the 1/4"
emitter tubing
and running it
through a pot or
planter box.
This tubing has
emitters every
6" at .5 gph.
