Vegetable Gardens
1/4" in-line drip emitter tubing works
well for vegetable garden rows. It is
easy to adapt the number of emitters
lines with rows of vegetables or
flowers. With emitters every 6", the
row gets wet all along the tubing.
With the water close to the plants,
excess weed growth is reduced
compared to overhead sprinkler
irrigation.
1/2" drip tube is
used as the header
across the rows.
The 1/4" emitter
line is connected to
the 1/2" with 1/4"
barb x barb fitting.
At the end of the
1/4" use a hole or
goof plug to cap the
end of the line.
The 1/4" emitter line is easily moved to the side after harvest for
bed preparation for the next planting. This raised bed also has
Vari-Jet microsprays in the corners that are use to sprinkler the
seeds till germination.
A simple valve, filter
and pressure regulator
in a raised bed. The
valve can be operated
manually or connected
to an irrigation
controller. The filter
protects against bugs
and dirt that get into
the system via the air
gap on the anti-siphon
portion of the valve.
Application
1/4" in line drip emitter tubing
around tomatoe plants in a raised
bed.
